Hazel- Year 3 2017 - 2018

Mrs Jones

Welcome to Hazel Class's (Year 3) Class page!

Our class teacher is Mrs Jones. We are also very lucky to have Mr Ellinson teaching us for Computing and Teaching Assistant, Mrs Wellings. All the adults in our class support our learning and make school enjoyable.

In Spring 2, I was deeply impressed with the enthusiasm the children showed for writing fairy tales, making puppets and discussing what makes a mega city. Year 2 enjoyed our creative class museum where Hazel Class shone when showing their homework projects...from full on puppet theatres to a scaled hand-made mega city- WOW!

Our topics for this half term are Diaries - Recounts (Literacy), Vikings (History), Puppets  continued (Art and DT), Christianity - What is 'good' about Good Friday (RE), Swimming and Racket Games (PE),  Light continued (Science) and Goal setting (PSHE).

We also have our residential this half term- look out for the letter coming home detailing when the parent's evening is to discuss what activities our brave class will be tackling!

Rewards/ Behaviour

In Year Three, we have Class Dojos. We get these when we are well behaved and when we do great work. It is very exciting to see which monster will have the most points at the end of the week and who will also take home our class voted 'Star of the the Week'. We also have a mathematician and writer of the week. More information on this can be found in the Transtion booklet or the Behaviour Policy. New this year we are also celebrating our readers of the week and a Values Champion- someone who has been a positive role model in the class. Look out for the new certificates and work on the wall!

PE will take place on Tuesday (Racket Games) and Thursday (Swimming). Please ensure your child has their full PE kit or swimming costume (including correct footwear), that long hair is tied up and all jewellery fully removed. Please make sure your child has their swimming costume, towel and change of clothes for swimming on Wednesday as well as goggles if consent was given. We do, however, encourage children not to wear goggles as we are teaching them about water safety, including what do do in emergency situations involving water.

Times Table Rock Stars

Wow what a difference our rock stars have made! We are already seeing confidence blooming in maths lessons with children applying their knowledge of times tables in their lessons. Thank you for your continued support with 3 minutes practise a day!

We reward our readers! We ask that children in Year 3 read for at least 15 minutes three times a week to support their development in reading. We reward this effort at home with dojos in class.

If you have any questions, queries or problems please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff and if it cannot be answered or solved on the spot, Mrs Jones will be happy to see you before or after school.

Thank you!
