Year 5 2016 - 2017

Mr Spruce

Mr Ellinson

Welcome to Year 5's class page!

Hello, this is Mr Spruce and I, alongside Mr Ellinson, am one of the Year 5 teachers this year. You'll find me in class every morning as well as Monday and Tuesday afternoons. I teach English, maths, computing, RE and PE. When I'm not in class, I'm usually around school in my role as Deputy Headteacher. During those times, you'll find Mr Ellinson teaching our topic lessons, science, PSHE and a few other things too. Completing our Year 5 team are Miss Woods and Mr Christian: two excellent teaching assistants who do a great job supporting our children.

Please have your PE kit in at the start of the week. Also, it is our class's turn to have swimming lessons first this year and we currently go for them on a Thursday morning (so don't forgot your trunks and costumes).

Now that the children are in Year 5, they get and opportunity to learn an instrument. After a few weeks of trying different options, each child will be matched with an instrument that suits them best. Children get to take their instruments home to practise but need to bring them in every Tuesday which is when our lessons happen. Back in class, our current topic of study is: The Ancient Greeks' impact on Today's society. Please look at the class long term plan for the year to see what's coming up later in 2016-2017 (in the 'Curriculum Information' section).

As is the case across the school, we give out homework on Fridays due for return on a Tuesday.

If there's anything else you'd like to know, feel free to catch any of the Year 5 team at the door at the end of the day or just call school and we'll be back in touch as soon as we can.
