Willow- Year 1 2023 - 2024

Hello and welcome to Willow Class! 

My name is Mrs McCracken and I am the class teacher in Year One. Our amazing Teaching Assistants are Miss Palmer, Mrs Hunt and Mrs Keighery and together we make up the staff of Willow Class 2023-2024. Mrs Barratt will have the class on a Thursday afternoon and on a Friday.

In Year One, we spend a lot of time working on our phonics to help with our reading and writing. We are always busy and enjoy using all the equipment around the classroom to help us learn. 

At the end of every day, Mrs McCracken or another member of the team, will choose a Class Captain. This person gets to be at the front of the line and do all the important jobs for the day! They also take home the class bear Rosie and get to add the class captian book about what they have been doing. 

In line with the new school procedures, reading books will be changed by an adult on Fridays. The children will take home a book for the week and homework will be sent home on a Friday.

PE will be on a Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school in PE kit suitable for outdoors on these days. 

We are also extremly lucky to have a beautiful outdoor area for us to use! We have a mud kitchen, den building area, bird watching house, bug hunting boxes, bug hotels, a fairy garden and much much more! We try to use this area as much as possible so we highly recommend the children leave a pair of wellies in school.
